Boulder rider gets 2nd at Mt. Washington Hillclimb

in

While most were out fighting it out at Boulder Roubaix or the North Boulder Crit, local Excel Sports rider, Nico Toutenhoofd was taking on some of the best hill climbers in the country at Mt Washington's Hill Climb. With 600 riders in the field Nico came out in 2nd place!

Tour of Utah

in

I know this is not local racing news but there are a lot of pros from Colorado that are racing the Tour of Utah. After the first stage Jason Donald is leading the race and holds the KOM lead. There is no live coverage of the race that I can find but Road Magazine is on hand is providing some twitter updates. You can follow there twitter feed here.

New road race to end the season... Dear Trail take II

in

While the venue may not be many riders first or 10th choice it is nice that the road season is getting one more race in before the door closes. Cycling Events will be hosting a Road Race on the Dear Trail course September 6. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why the road season ends so early?

Boulder women claim high spots on podium at TT Championships

in

Boulder resident, Allison Powers, claimed top honors at the women's elite TT Championships and Boulder native Mara Abbott claiming 2nd.

USA cycling story on success

The women weren't the only ones taking gold home, Pete Stetina claimed Gold in the U23 TT and Taylor Shelden took home the Bronze. Andrew Barker picked up the Bronze in the juniors 17-18 field... I've raced and been beaten by Andrew... like 3 years ago... he is going places! Danielle Haulman got the only silver for Colorado in the women 17-18 field.

Good job to all podium placers

2007 Roubaix winner will not defend title

in

303Racing recently caught up with Chuck Coyle about his 07 victory and plans for 08.

[303Racing]:What is your plan for 08 (assuming you are racing it)?

[Coyle]: First of all I can not tell you how bummed I am that I am going to miss the Roubaix this year. It overlaps with the Tour of Utah and myself and team are committed to it. I was able to win the race last year and I have been 2nd once before. I don't think that anyone has ever 2-peated Roubaix and I really wanted to be the first.

303Racing: What was your strategy for winning the 07 race?

[Coyle]: Going into the race in 2007 I knew I was on good form.... the kind that you only have for a few weeks a year. Racing had been going great and I was motivated to come back home from being on the road and put in a good performance. I also knew that in years past the race has traditionally been won out of a break-away. Just from looking at the course and profile you wouldn't think it is but breaks seem to always manage to get away.

Rocky Mountain State MTB Championships this weekend!

in

Let me just quote the MSC website on this...

That's right, it's state championships time. In 2008 we've got a whole new venue with courses purpose-built for the event. It'll also be a sneak peek at some of the terrain that you'll be racing on for National Mountain Bike Championships in 2009. Yes, your read that correctly. The SolVista Bike Park folks along with the support of the Granby Ranch team have thrown themselves into preparation for the race and the event promises to be the best of the year so far. You're not going to want to miss the unofficial Pump Track World Championships, the finals of the Momentum Trail Concepts Moustache Contest or the Dale's Pale Ale Beer Crit. We've got live music and a swank hospitality suite brought to you by Dale's and Wahoo's. Need more info? Click the SolSurvivor link at the left. Wanna check out the State Champions Gear Program? Head to the bottom of this page.
